audiology conferences in 2018

12 Audiology Conferences to Attend in 2018

Audiology and ENT Clinics, Audiometry, Hearing Conservation, Hearing Health, Hearing Services, Humanitarian, Ototoxicity Monitoring, Research

Here we are, already 3 months into 2018 and I’m only now sitting down to write the article. It’s been a hectic start to the year. But the bulk of events that we attend happen in the spring and again in the fall. So now seems a good time to capture the audiology conferences in 2018 that we are both committed to and considering.

This year we are looking at events that cover a variety of topics. These include occupational hearing conservation, hearing instrument sales, ototoxicity monitoring, and even clinical research. Here are our top picks for 2018.

American Academy of Occupational Health Nurses (AAOHN)

April 16-18, Reno, Nevada. First up this year is the AAOHN National Conference. This will be our first year attending AAOHN. So many of our contacts have asked us if we’d be there, so we figured it’s definitely one worth checking out! We’re excited to gain valuable knowledge in the latest programs, technology, and resources for occupational and environmental health nursing. Are you attending too? If you are, you should stop by booth #420 for a quick demo of SHOEBOX Audiometry!

American Academy of Audiology (AAA)

April 18-21, Nashville, Tennessee. Unlike AAOHN, we are no strangers to this next conference. We have been exhibiting at AAA’s annual conference and exhibition since 2015. This year the Academy will be celebrating its 30th anniversary! This meeting is one of the world’s largest gatherings of audiologists. AAA gives attendees an opportunity to network with colleagues from around the world and explore the latest in hearing technology. If you’re attending AAA2018, too, come find us at booth #414.

American Occupational Health Conference (AOHC)

April 29-May 2, New Orleans, Louisiana. Put on by the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM), AOHC is a meeting for health professionals in the field of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (O&EM). Did you know that AOHC2018 will be ACOEM’s 103rd Annual Meeting? They have been promoting the health and safety of workers since 1916. See you there – we’ll be at booth #402.

American Industrial Hygiene (AIHce)

May 21-23, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The AIH Conference & Exposition is an experience for industrial hygiene and occupational health professionals of all levels. It will help attendees discover innovative information and strategies to protect their workers’ health. Come pay us a visit at booth #1030 and ask us how SHOEBOX Audiometry can help with your hearing conservation program.

Safety (ASSE)

June 3-5, San Antonio, Texas. Safety2018 will be one of the larger conferences we’ve ever been to. This exposition hosts over 600 companies presenting cutting-edge products, technology and techniques. We’re excited and very lucky to be one of those 600 companies this year. Make sure you stop by booth #1466 to say hi!

International Hearing Society (IHS)

September 13-15, Glendale, Arizona. IHS is the premier event for hearing aid dispensing professionals. This event has a long history of attracting world-class hearing healthcare presenters. Educational topics include dementia prevention, tinnitus treatment, aural rehabilitation, audiometric abnormalities, and more.

On our radar

AAO-HNSF Annual Meeting

October 7-10, Atlanta, Georgia.  Now in its 122nd year, AAO attracts more than 5,000 otolaryngology surgeons from all around the world. This year will be no different. They come to learn about new research findings, approaches, and treatment options. And the OTO Expo offers a one-of-a-kind experience. Here, attendees get access to products, services, and networking opportunities. All in one place.

EUHA

October 17 – 19, Hanover, Germany. EUHA is the annual conference of the International Congress of Hearing Aid Acousticians. It is the largest exhibition in Europe for the hearing aid industry. We have applied to exhibit and are waiting to hear if we have been accepted.

Canadian Academy of Audiology (CAA)

October 17 – 20, Niagara Falls, Ontario. CAA is an annual gathering of hearing and balance clinicians, researchers, and policymakers. With a strong focus on education and networking, this is always a favorite event close to home.

AuDACITY

October 22 – 24, Orlando, Florida. AuDACITY is the annual conference of the Academy of Doctor’s of Audiology (ADA). The ADA helps clinicians succeed in all aspects of the business of audiology. This concept aligns to the conference agenda for AuDACITY. It would be our first time here, but we do hope to be able to attend this year.

The Union World Conference on Lung Health

October 24 – 27, The Hague, The Netherlands. The Union conference is always an important event for us. This would be our 4th year in attendance and our 2nd as an exhibitor. What’s the connection between audiology and lung health? Unfortunately, the common treatment of multi-drug resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) is known to be ototoxic. Adding hearing testing to treatment plans can aid in the detection of ototoxicity. Healthcare providers can then consider changes to treatment plans to help prevent hearing loss.

World Congress in Audiology

October 28 – 31, Cape Town, South Africa. World Congress is the bi-annual conference of the International Society of Audiology. Founded almost 70 years ago, the event showcases global audiological research.  World Congress is most definitely on our radar.

Here’s the challenge. Between October 7th and the 31st, there are six conferences that we’d like to attend. I know we can’t do them all. But narrowing down the list is going to be hard. These are all world-class events that attract leaders in their respective fields. We are going to do our best to get to most of them. We really hope to see you there.
