Quick Start Guide

Our systems are shipped without the software installed because the first step to setting up a new iPad is to create an Apple ID or sign in using an existing iTunes account. If you will be the only person using the audiometer, you can use your existing personal iTunes account for SHOEBOX. If the device will be shared across multiple users we recommend creating a new Apple iTunes account to protect your privacy. Store login credentials in a secure location as they will be required for iOS updates.

    Create – or sign into - an Apple ID

    Follow the Apple installation wizard to set up your device using either your own Apple ID or a new one you create. Read more about creating Apple IDs at Apple Support.

    Download SHOEBOX

    From the iPad home screen, tap the App Store icon, search for SHOEBOX Audiometry, select the QuickTest version of the software, then tap the “Get” button. Your Apple iTunes ID may be required at this step.

    Set up the Software

    Log into SHOEBOX with the Username and Password provided to you before your system arrived (email from support@shoebox.md). Contact us if you cannot find your credentials. Follow the instructions in the setup wizard. NOTE: access to the microphone is mandatory for the system to perform background monitoring and for proper function of the device.

    Create a Passcode

    It is strongly recommended that you use a passcode on the SHOEBOX software. This passcode is independent of the one used for the iPad and is intended to protect against unwanted access to the data on the device. See the Password Options Menu.

General

  • What version of SHOEBOX am I running?

    On the iPad open the App Store and choose the Updates option. Select the update button beside your SHOEBOX items.

  • How do I update my iPad to the most current version of SHOEBOX QuickTest?

    From the SHOEBOX Main screen select Settings > About >Version OR on the iPad open the App Store, choose Purchased. The currently installed version of SHOEBOX will be listed.

  • How do I edit patient information?

    On the iPad: From the SHOEBOX main screen select the ℹ icon next to the patient you would like to edit. Complete your changes to the patient details form and select Save.

    In the SHOEBOX Data Management web portal: Select All Patients on the left then select the patient by clicking on their name. On the patient details page, click the pencil icon in the top right-hand side to edit their patient information. Select Save when you are finished

  • How much space will SHOEBOX use on my iPad?

    Device Storage Requirements:
    App size on the device: ~170MB
    Audiogram size on the device: 0.1MB
    Patient, Speech test result and survey response sizes on the device: Very small, ~0.001MB
    Speech test word list file: 5MB - 11MB depending on the word list

  • Why do I need an Apple ID? Can I use my personal Apple ID?

    An Apple ID is required to set up the iPad for use with any software on the iPad, including SHOEBOX products. We strongly recommend that company owned and/or shared iPads be logged in using a separate Apple ID from your personal devices to avoid issues surrounding data privacy and password issues.

  • Can I log into different iPads with the same username and password?

    Yes, you can use the same username and password to log into different instances of SHOEBOX on multiple iPads. Please note that each of these logins will use an available license space and all data will be merged in the SHOEBOX web portal under one user. If you would like to keep data from different iPads separate please speak with our Customer Care and Support team regarding your options.

  • Can I log into different version of SHOEBOX (ie Standard, Pro or QuickTest) with the same username and password?

    Yes, you can use the same username and password to log into different SHOEBOX softwares on the same iPad or different iPads. All of you data will be accessible under that username and password on the SHOEBOX web portal.

Transducers

  • Why don’t I see my transducers listed?

    On the QuickTest main screen swipe right with two fingers and enter your passcode to activate the settings option the top left-hand corner. Select the gear icon to open the settings page. Beside the Active Transducer option, you will see a list of transducers available to use with the QuickTest software. Select the alphanumeric code that matches the code on the white tag near the end of your transducer cable. If you do not see the code that corresponds to your transducer please contact our Customer Care and Support team.

  • How do I install new transducers?

    From the QuickTest main screen swipe right with two fingers and enter your passcode to activate the settings option the top left-hand corner. Select the gear icon to open the settings page. In Settings, beside Transducers, there will be a drop down option to select an Active Transducer. Select the alphanumeric code that matches the code on the white tag near the end of your transducer cable. If you do not see the code that corresponds to your transducer please contact our Customer Care and Support team.

  • Why do my transducers have a yellow exclamation point next to them?

    From the SHOEBOX Main screen select Settings > About >Version

Using SHOEBOX QuickTest

  • How do I configure my QuickTest options?

    Please log into the SHOEBOX Data Management web portal using the email address and password associated with the QuickTest system. On the left-hand side of the screen select QuickTest to enter the QuickTest options screen. From here you are able to customize the frequencies and intensities that you are presenting as well as your logo. For changes to the survey questions please contact our Customer Care and Support team

  • How do I change projects?

    From the QuickTest main screen swipe right with two fingers and enter your passcode to activate the settings option the top left-hand corner. Select the gear icon to open the settings page. In Settings, beside Active Project, there is a drop down option to select the correct project.
